Non Post- Exposure Prophylaxis (nPEP)
A way to prevent HIV infection after a possible recent exposure.
PEP involves taking antiretroviral (ARV) medications, or antiretroviral therapy (ART), within 72 hours after a single high-risk event to help prevent HIV from making copies of itself and spreading throughout your body. If your health care provider prescribes PEP, you’ll need to take it once or twice daily for 28 days.
PEP is effective in preventing HIV, but not 100%. Always use condoms with sex partners and use safe injection practices.
Pre-exposure
prophylaxis (PrEP)
Designed for high risk for HIV take daily medicine to prevent HIV. When taken daily, PrEP is highly effective for preventing HIV from sex or injection drug use.
PrEP reduces the risk of getting HIV from sex by about 99% when taken daily. Among people who inject drugs, PrEP reduces the risk of getting HIV by at least 74% when taken daily.
Passport2PrEP (P2P) is an integrated model of care program we offer, designed to promote sustained HIV negative status among socially vulnerable people at high risk for HIV. For access to PrEP, click the link below!
